Proper Ventilation for Cockatiels

Good ventilation is really important for both the parents and chicks.

🏠 Indoor breeding setup;

Fresh air: Keep the room well ventilated, but avoid a direct draft blowing into the cage or nest box.

Windows: A window can provide natural ventilation, but use secure mesh/screens so the birds can't escape and insects can't get in.

Air circulation: A fan can help circulate air, but don't point it directly at the cage or nest box.atleast have 2 3 window and a air exhaust for better ventilation

Avoid fumes: Keep the breeding room away from kitchens, smoke, perfumes, aerosol sprays, paint, and strong cleaning chemicals. Birds are especially sensitive to airborne fumes.

Temperature: Avoid sudden temperature changes. A stable, comfortable room is better than constantly changing hot/cold air.

Nest box: Make sure the nest box isn't sealed airtight; it needs some air exchange while still being protected from drafts.

🌤️ Outdoor breeding setup

Position the aviary where it gets good natural airflow without strong prevailing winds.
Provide a roof and shaded area so the birds can escape direct sun and rain.
Have at least one side partially sheltered so birds aren't exposed to wind from every direction.
Use strong, appropriately sized mesh and make sure there are no gaps around the nest box.
In very hot weather, ventilation becomes especially important—shade and airflow should work together rather than trapping hot air inside.
During storms, very strong winds, or extreme heat/cold, move the birds to a safer sheltered environment if possible.

One important point: ventilation should mean fresh, moving air—not a cold draft. For a breeding pair with eggs or chicks, stability is particularly important.
