Diet of Cockatiels

Dear members,

Diet plays a crucial role in maintaining the health, vitality, and quality of our Cockatiels. I would love to hear from you about the seed mix you offer to your birds. Please share the types of seeds included in your mix and their ratios, as well as how often you rotate or change the ratios based on the age, seasons, or breeding cycles.

Feel free to share a photo of your seed mix as well! This can be a wonderful opportunity for all of us to learn and improve the care we provide to our beloved Cockatiels.

Currently, I am feeding:

1. Canary seeds= 48%

2. Yellow millet= 18%

3. Red millet= 8%

4. Sunflower= 5%

5. Oats (javi)= 6%

6. Paddy rice (chonna)= 2%

7. Hempseeds (bhung)= 3%

8. Safflower (qurtam)= 4%

9. Flax seeds (Alsi)= 2%

10. Buckwheat seeds= 2%

11. Niger= 1%

12. Rapeseeds= 1%

During summertime, canary seeds and sunflower seeds are proportionally reduced, and millets are increased in the same way. Additionally, I provide some extra sunflower seeds during breeding season to the breeding stock, especially to the pairs who have hatchlings in the nest.
